Okra is a favorite summer vegetable. Okra can be cultivated easily in home gardens, its home crop can meet the needs of your kitchen throughout the season and it can also be dried and preserved. Hot weather is the best time for okra cultivation. It seed germinates and grows rapidly in the temperature of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. In the plains of the Punjab two crops of okra are cultivated in a year. The first crop is planted from February to the end of March, this crops is ready till May- June and it is accompanied by vegetables.
While preparing the land for okra, cow dung manure is used. When sowing , super phosphate is required. In cold weather more seeds are added. In hot weather more crops are produced in less time. 
After sowing, the okra plant is lightly irrigated every week for a month. When the roots of the plants become long and deep, more water is given, but the interval is extended. The okra plants starts bearing fruit after fifty days, every second or third day the okra must should be picked otherwise it become hard and okra seed ripens. Nitrogen and phosphorous fertilizers increase disease resistance of okra crop, which leads to better yield and yield of okra. 
While cooking okra curry, it should not be fried in ghee or fried for a long time, keeping it for a long time will destroy the vitamins and other useful ingredients included in it. In addition to curry, okra is also used as a medicine . If there is inflammation in the urinary tract after the bladder and burning in the urine, the detection of okra gives immediate relief. Its soup should be consumed to relieve dry cough, sore throat and chest dryness, it also relieves phlegm. 
In the case of inflammation of the kidney or bladder, drinking two or three drops of its soup a day will help.Okra is also beneficial in male and female diseases. For this purpose soft and small okra without seeds is useful. sometimes there is burning sensation in urine due to heat or other diseases. In such cases, fresh or dry okra soup is very useful.Okra is very beneficial for treating kidney stones and bladder diseases. Infertility women get rid of their infertility with okra soup, and those who have complaints of asthma, keep the center of okra in the shade and dry it to make a break couch and mix it with honey and give it to patient if they have asthma.The sustenance will also be greatly benefited from it. By gargling with vinegar and vinegar in okra soup, toothache is relieved. Okra has high antiseptic properties due to its pectin and starch, 
 

Okra Soup

While cooking okra, it should not be fried in ghee for a long time, as over- frying loses the vitamins and proteins present in it to a large extent. If you want to fry for a longer time to make the taste more palatable, heating the ghee at low heat is less harmful than frying it in okra at high heat.

Excess consumption of okra also affects health, so it should be avoided to some extent. For some patients okra should be consumed sparingly , such as those who suffer from constipation or abdominal pain, should reduce the consumption of okra it is harmful.

Delicious Okra Curry

                                Okra half     :  kg     
                                Onion half   :  one
       Rye and white cumin seeds  :  each spoon
                               Kalonji          :  half tsp
                               Turmeric       :   half spoon
                       Crushed garlic      :   one spoon
                        Salt, pepper, oil   :   as your taste 
 
Cut the chopped dry okra and take sesame seeds in a frying pan, heat oil and add it to the kalonji. Add all the ground spices and add the okra and onions and cook on low. Finally, add green chilies and green coriander and take it off. The dry taste of the curry is ready. Take care that there is no water left in the okra.
